Business model Innovation
Durability by design. Fixing forest carbon at its root.

Our model – Continuous Carbon – renews every ton of forest carbon annually, creating a dynamic, self-correcting system. By treating reversals as expected and managing them continuously, we provide a framework that is durable by design – giving buyers reliable and traceable carbon removals.

Built for integrity: Continuous Carbon manages reversal risk through annual renewal.

Mechanism
We store carbon in one-year increments, renewing each unit consecutively to create a continuous sequence of removals. Reversal risk is limited by structuring storage annually. Credits are issued only ex post, ensuring every ton is real and verified.

Advantage
No projections. No assumptions. Just a transparent issuance framework where reversals are managed continuously. Buyers receive traceable, year-over-year credits they can trust –  without the hidden risks of traditional forestry CDR.

Implication
We don’t ignore reversals. We manage them. By renewing storage every year, the system ensures continuity and integrity. Sequencing one-year tons year after year, with strict annual ex post verification, delivers CDR that is reliable and resilient.

Step 1
Remove
CO₂ is removed by deferring harvest on a forest plot for one year, allowing additional biomass to grow. Removals are monitored and verified ex post. Only measured, real carbon uptake is credited.
Step 2
Replace
After one year, the credited carbon is considered reversed. To maintain continuity, a new harvest delay is applied on a new plot, renewing the expired storage through ex post verified, additional growth.
Step 3
Repeat
This cycle repeats annually, creating a continuous sequence of ex post–verified removals. Each expiring ton is systematically replaced, neutralizing reversal risk and enabling reliable carbon storage.
PROBLEM

Forest carbon is prone to risks like fire, storms, pests, and logging. To manage this risk, today’s standard safeguard is the buffer pool. But these “insurance” mechanisms are deeply flawed:

  • Under-capitalized – and not fit for purpose. 1
  • Unclear – shared risk models with no transparency. 2
  • Ineffective – reversal risk remains unaccounted for. 3

The result? A system that can’t keep its promises: safe forest removal.

PRINCIPLE

All forest carbon is per definition temporary. Thats not a flaw. It’s a fact. The problem isn’t reversals. It’s how we deal with it. Buffer pools pretend to insure and solve this risk. At OXO Earth we don’t pretend. Instead we’ve built a system that acknowledges reversals and plans for them. That’s how we turn natural volatility into long-term climate reliability.

SOLUTION

Continuous Carbon is a forest carbon model built on horizontal stacking: we remove one ton for one year, then treat it as reversed – and store it again the next year. This creates a continuous sequence of one ton stored over time, with reversals expected and accounted for, year after year. This creates a self-correcting, dynamic system that solves the reversal risk.

Earth Observation
We fuse multi-source EO data such as high-resolution imagery and LiDAR to monitor land health, biomass accumulation, and carbon flux across all forest plots.
Ecological Intelligence
Our models combine forestry science, plot-specific ground truth data and personal in-situ monitoring to make sure our projects are done right.
Built-in Verification
From plot initiation to credit issuance, every step is digitally documented and transparently auditable – designed for grass-roots trust.

"Environmental integrity is at the heart of our mission. The carbon markets aren’t perfect. Neither are we. But we’ve solved the core problem of forest removal. So that companies can remove carbon without worrying about their reputation."
